HONEYMOAN WEIRDO

Soon to come from the always on-point Communion Music, Honeymoan’s sophomore EP promises to be a catalogue of buzzy alt-pop anthems. It's an oath we’re hearing in full affect in earwormy title-track ‘Weirdo’. Psychedelic guitars drives this woozy tune, which have then been chopped and sampled in a style borrowed from the world of hip-hop. This heady mix is further loaded with shoegazey reverb and a hefty bass line that helps to anchor the floating, mixed-up atmosphere created by Honeymoan's eclectic approach. The reason for such confusion within the song is illuminated by singer Alison Rachels who explains that “Weirdo is about a girl harbouring feelings for a girl who is dating a boy. It narrates the tale of an intense and unwavering gaze, an almost desperate secret love letter on the brink of being disclosed”. It’s truly a stunning track perfected by those instant-hook vocals. Hold tight to ‘Weirdo’. - Hannah Thacker
